Three Ways to Look Your Best for the Holidays

31/12/2016

A holiday homecoming doesn’t require reverting back to your highschool sweatpants and sports team winter coat in order to fit in. Looking your best when you’re home for the holidays will make the event an occasion and tells your loved ones how much you care. The objective is to show how you’ve matured into a refined gentleman that knows how to look the part.

Here are three style ideas to make the right impression this year:
Look 1: Camel and black

The first look is ideal for outdoor activities like shopping in town or running errands, and will ensure you are the sharpest man on main street. I’ve always thought camel and black creates a vivid contrast that brings out the richness of camel, and this look does just that. There’s actually not much going on, but it ties together some very different concepts to create a unique affect. The camel overcoat has classic presence and a bit of flash, while the black jeans and Chelsea boots are a distinctly contemporary pairing. A beautiful cashmere roll neck supports the minimalist approach since its eliminates the need for a scarf. To round off the entire look with a European flair, there couldn’t be a more fitting occasion for a crushable fedora – crushable felt the best choice for travel

Look 2: Intelligent layering

This one is for the “no white after labour day” lemmings and based on tonal layering. Versatility makes this an excellent travel idea in general; you can easily wear this  lounging around the house or out for drinks with old friends. Layering simple shades of grey has the duel advantage of reducing bulk and noise while locking in enough heat to keep warm. Lighter greys also make a natural companion with cream or off-white trousers, which is a classy way to easily pull off winter whites.

Look 3: The celebratory suit

The holidays, and especially new years, is a time to celebrate so you can bet there will be a camera or two at that special dinner or New Year's Eve party. What better way to cap off the year with a formal, timeless suit and tie ensemble? A supremely tailored grey suit, simple white shirt and charcoal knit tie will win the night and spare your relatives from the cringeworthy novelty tie. A raspberry pocket square, being the only real colour in this entire outfit, will provide a subtle focal point and draw attention to the suit.
